Westwood Lakes - Fishing

There are three lakes available for anglers; these are the Kestral, the Kingfisher and the Hawk. They each have different types and sizes of fish and can be used by anglers of all abilities and ages.

Kestral Lake Kestral Lake
Kestral Lake comprises of 30 pegs and four islands stocked with Carp Berbel, Chub and Tench. Carp to 15lb, Berbel to 10lb, match weight average 150lb in the summer months as featured in the Angling Times
 
Kingfisher Lake Kingfisher Lake
The Kingfisher Lake is an old established lake and has two islands. Carp to 20lb are common and it's main species are Tench which average 6lb upwards and make many of the match weights average 100lb also as featured in the Angling Times.
 
Hawk Lake Hawk Lake
Hawk Lake is an unusual lake as you fish from the island comprisong of 20 pegs. It hasChub, Berbel and Carp. The average size is 1 to 1.5lb, ideal for the younger angler. The average match weight is 50 - 60lb, also featured in the Angling Times.
 
Skylark Lake Skylark Lake
A new 44 peg match lake. Stocked with carp, tench, barbell and bream, all averaging 2lb and under for a superb bagging experience.
Opening times and restrictions

Open from: 08:00 - 18:00

Day ticket - £5 per rod

Guest Tickets: £4 per day or £25 per week

A selection of bait is now available from reception area including, worms, luncheon meat, sweetcorn and pellets.

Fishing Rules and Restrictions
  • Only 1 rod per angler
  • All anglers must bring their own landing pole, poles are available to purchase from reception
  • All fish must be landed by landing net
  • Running feeder only
  • Barbless hooks only
  • No: Boilies, buzzer bars, floating baits
  • No: Cat or Dog meat
  • No: Keep nets
  • All Barbell caught must be given time to recover in landing net before being returned to the lake

Please look at match board opposite reception.

If all lakes are booked please ask at reception which lake you can fish, as not all pegs may be booked.

Day Tickets must be purchased from reception before you are able to fish.

If you have booked a match please pay at reception.

You must use keep nets and landing nets provided, you cannot share a net. All nets must be returned to reception area

Do not under any circumstance move any nets from one lake to another.

Westwood Lakes take great pride in our lakes, please show respect for our fish and other anglers by:

  • Removing all you litter
  • Acting in a responsible manner
  • Not leaving fish on the bank longer than necessary. All fish to be landed by landing nets provided. All fish to be returned carefully and professionally. Barbell to be given time to recover in landing net before returning to lake.

Anyone caught breaking any rules will be asked to leave immediately.

Kingfisher

  • Carp to 15lb
  • Barbell to 10lb - Barbell must be given time to recover in landing net before returning to lake.
  • Tench to 8lb
  • Bream to 8lb
  • Also, small stamp of above species

Line Weight: 8lb maximum
Hook Size: No hook beyond a size 12, must be barbless
Recommended Bait: Maggots, Paste, Worm, Pellet, Luncheon Meat, Sweet corn
Owner’s Tip: Using 2ml Micro pellet or 4ml Sinking Pellet, throw in a handful every 10 minutes!

Hawk

  • Carp
  • Barbell
  • Tench
  • Roach
  • Skimmers
  • All up to 3lb

Line Weight: 4lb maximum
Hook Size: No hook beyond a size 14, must be barbless
Recommended Bait: Micro pellet, Sweet corn, Luncheon Meat, Paste on hook
Owner’s Tip: Fish 13 metres on shallow shelf or under feet in deep water!

Kestrel

  • Carp to 15lb
  • Barbell to 10lb - Barbell must be given time to recover in landing net before returning to lake.
  • Ide to 1lb
  • Bream to 6lb

Line Weight: 8lb maximum
Hook Size: No hook beyond a size 12, must be barbless
Recommended Bait: Maggot, Paste, Luncheon Meat, Sweet corn
Owner’s Tip: For Barbell and Carp use pellet feed or hemp!

Skylark

  • Carp to 5lb
  • Barbell to 1lb
  • Skimmers to 1lb
  • Bream to 6lb
  • Tench to 4lb
  • Roach to 1lb

Line Weight: 5lb Maximum
Hook Size: No hook beyond a size 12, must be barbless
Recommended Bait: Maggot, Luncheon Meat, Pellet, Castor
Owner’s Tip: Fish 13 metres on shelf. Feed 4ml Micro Pellet and Pellet Paste. Fish 6 metres in deep water 4.5 foot deep.
