Local towns
Boston
Boston is the nearest town to Westwood Lakes being only 1 mile to the north. It is a historic market town (market day: Wednesday and Saturday) with a thriving town centre. Also it has a cinema and arts centre. The 'Boston Stump', also known as St Botolph's Church, dominates the skyline for miles around and breathtaking views are possible if you are willing to climb to the top of the 272ft tower! There are many sports facilities in Boston including; golf course, tennis club and courts, squash and many more.
Spalding
15 miles to the south west of Westwood Lakes is the pretty market town of Spalding(market day: Tuesday and Saturday). The town has a cinema/arts Centre and you can take a trip on the River to visit Springfields shopping outlet. Usually held during the May day weekend is the Spalding flower Parade which attracts people form all over the world. The Castle Sports Centre has an indoor swimming pool and gymnasium besides tennis courts and an indoor bowling rink. Spalding also has a golf course.
Skegness
Less than 25 miles to the North East of Westwood Lakes is the seaside town of Skegness. Everything you would expect from a seaside town is here; donkeys on the beach, a pier, sealife centre, theatre.......and fish and chips! Everything, in fact, that you need to make a perfect trip to the seaside!
Peterborough
Around 40 miles south west from Westwood Lakes, Peterborough is a thriving city, with a large covered shopping centre, numerous cinemas and theatres, and imposing cathedral.
Local Amenities
Freiston and Frampton Marsh
4 miles to the east of Westwood Lakes are the marshes of the Wash, here you can find many species of wading birds and other wildlife. The are is an RSPB nature reserve and there are car parks available for easy access to the reserves. Birds of prey such as Marsh and Hen Harriers, Merlins and Barn Owls can be seen. Also Redshanks, Skylarks, Godwits and Terns, amongst others can be seen. More information on the marshes is available here

Boston Windmill
The Maud Foster windmill is the tallest working windmill in the country. It has a tea room and shop where you can buy flour produced by the mill.
The Butterfly Park, Long Sutton
This attraction is more than it's name suggests, not only can you see some wonderful species of butterfly but also various, snakes, amphibians, birds of prey, farm animals and ants! There is alos an adventure playground for the kids to enjoy. Find out more at the Butterfly Park website.
Boat Trips on the River Welland, Boston
Boat trips along the river or further afield in to the Wash can be taken in the summer months from April to October. More information can be found at the Maritime Cruises website
Stickney Farm Park
Visit this working farm, with emphasis on making learning fun and giving you the opportunity to see all the animals at close hand. More information is available from the farm's own site
Baytree Garden and Owl Centre
Visit one of the largest garden centres in the area and whilst you are there see their varied collection of owls and birds of prey, one of the largest and most varied in the country with over 100 birds of prey on display. View the Baytree website here
